Mock Interviews

Golden View hosts mock interviews for high school students multiple times through the school year to help students hone their skills for college admissions, job, and scholarship interviews. We conduct these practice interviews to give students feedback on their strengths and opportunities for growth regarding composure, delivery, preparedness, and appearance.

Students, please see your advisor for information on upcoming dates and how to sign up!

Resume Writing

Resumes are a vital aspect of the job, college, and scholarship application process. Students may set up individual meetings with their advisor to discuss best practices, tips, and tricks for resume building.

Extracurricular Involvement

  • Oppti - a free online platform that helps high school students find local (and virtual) internship and volunteering opportunities

  • Example Community Service Projects - ideas for students who are seeking volunteer ideas

  • Job Shadowing - see your post-graduation advisor for job shadowing contacts in your career of interest

Summer Programs - College and University

Many colleges and universities offer summer programs for high school students (usually for rising juniors and seniors). These programs are designed to give high schoolers the opportunity to:

  1. Experience life on a college campus of interest to them

  2. Explore a career field or academic topic of interest to them (sometimes earning college credit)

  3. Practice independence, meet new people and mentors, and prepare for college / a career

This is not an all-inclusive list, but rather a starting point if you are interested in looking into summer college programs.

The Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Military Academy (West Point) each offer their own summer programs to apply for and participate in.

These 4-5 day orientation programs immerse students in the academic, military, and social life of an academy and are designed for individuals who are interested in attending an academy after high school graduation.

Acceptance into these programs is competitive, so be sure to apply early!
